Every day millions of internet users browse billions of websites. These websites can be divided in to two categories as static and dynamic. Static websites are entirely Hyper Text Mark Up Language (HTML). Static websites are easy to publish and can be published easily by using any of the web UK Dedicated servers like Internet Information Services (IIS), Personal UK Dedicated Hosting Servers Services (PWS), Apache, e.t.c. Dynamic websites on the other hand use server side scripting. Dynamic Websites are considered interactive websites because they can generate output according to the input given by the users. Static websites are nowhere near the word interactive. Content of the static website can be changed when you change the website manually. While in order to publish dynamic pages web hosts must run these pages with the help of web server and a web scripting language. ASP (Active Server Pages) can run dynamic pages.

Active Server Pages or ASP is a Microsoft technology which is used to display dynamic websites, it’s a proprietary application. VBScript is the default programming language for ASP. It is not compulsory to use VBScript you can use Microsoft based scripting language Jscript instead. It is not easy to write ASP and it takes programming skills and familiarity with the ASP syntax. ASP is well compatible with PWS and IIS and it runs well under the two web servers. Both PWS and IIS are free with Windows operating system. IIS is included in the feature of Windows 2000 and XP Pro, while PWS is an add-on feature with Windows 98. If you wish to work with NT4/95 version you can just download the NT4 option pack. An ASP website can be identified by its extension .asp. If the extension is .html then it’s a static webpage HTML. For the ASP web pages ASP hosting is compulsory. If your ASP website is hosted in non-ASP hosting provider then you are at the wrong place. ASP website will be non-functional in an non-ASP hosting.
